Dr Scott Smid
Cannabinoid Expert / Scientific Advisor 

Scott graduated from the University of Adelaide with a BSc (Hons) in pharmacology major and a PhD investigating the role of the renin-angiotensin system in hypertension development. He undertook postdoctoral research in a commercial drug discovery project in the gastroenterology field, before taking up an academic position in Central Queensland and an assistant professorship at Bond University. Now a senior pharmacology lecturer at the University of Adelaide, Scott has been actively investigating the effects and interaction of endogenous cannabinoid and prostanoid pathways in the expression of inflammatory bowel disease. He has also developed collaborative projects investigating the influence of cannabinoid ligands on aspects of drug dependence and the role of cannabinoids and bioactives on neuroprotection.

He is a well-respected figure in the Canadian medical cannabis industry. It operates out of Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto and offers services in Canada, USA, Latin America, EU, Australia, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.

Barry Sharp, FCCA

Barry is a professional accountant and currently a Director and Treasurer for Better Business Bureau of Mainland British Columbia in Canada. In 1981, he founded AMA Management, a business consulting firm specialising in preparing effective business plans for start-ups and expanding businesses. He has prepared business plans for over 20 organisations applying for licences under Canada’s MMPR and advised numerous other organisations interested in pursuing their MMPR producer’s licence. He has played a key role in LeafCann’s application to become a licensed cultivator and manufacturer of medicinal cannabis goods. 

David Hyde

David is a security, crime prevention and risk management professional and owns and a full service security consultancy in Toronto, Canada. He has extensive experience in security consultation within the burgeoning commercial medical cannabis sector, having worked on security plans for over 60 organisations applying for licenses under Canada’s MMPR. David holds an MSc in Security and Risk Management from the University of Leicester, a Certificate in Security Management from the University of Calgary and has completed The Wharton School Development Program for Security Executives. He is also certified at an Advanced Level in Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED).
